First Baptist Hawthorne Youth Ministry
Friday Night Life is Meeting From 7PM - 10PM
@ The Community Center
Wanted to report that John and I drove three of our youth (boys) Hunter Herring, Dalton Hill and Joey Howard to Camp Horseshoe Beach. What a wonderful camp experience for these boys. The camp is for boys only and is staffed by Christian men of strong faith. Hunter Herring accepted Christ and stated that he will remain close to God and live the life as a Christian man. Dalton Hill thanked us and said he was able to get closer to God at camp. Joey Howard won the award for the Best service to the camp. Mr. Bloodsworth , the director took John aside and told him that he had never had a boy be so willing to help others and serve the needs of the camp as Joey was. Yahoo for First Baptist Boys.

The boys told us that they killed a wild hog and cooked it and ate on it for 24 hours. Horseshoe boat captains volunteered to take them scalloping and they gathered 2 coolers, cleaned the scallops, built a bonfire and ate them. They told us "they were living off the land.
Hunter told us that they played paintball the first day and as soon as he stepped into the field a counselor rolled out from under a bush and shot him before he could take two steps. The counselor was a Christian Marine who was in Special Ops and had just returned from Iraq. They rode 4 wheelers for miles thru the scrub and ran over at least 4 snakes. Ahaaa! They learned gun safety and had cabins shoot an egg from the top of a post until one cabin won the best marksman. It was not our boys’ cabin.
